INDEPENDENT STUDIO.
SHARED CREATIVITY.

Experienced ceramicists can apply for independent access to Krasl’s ceramics studio—a shared space for creative growth and community.

Guild members are encouraged to participate in Krasl events, including the annual Ceramics Studio Fundraiser and Art Fair on the Bluff.

Studios are shared by students, faculty, and guild members. They are not intended for production or storage.

PAYMENTS

  • $175 quarterly payments* due on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1
  • *Guild members are encouraged to participate in automatic payments by completing the Credit Card Authorization Form available at the KAC front desk.
  • Payments should be made by the first day of each quarter. Late payment notices will be emailed two weeks after the start of the quarter, and shelves will be packed up after one month without payment.

OPEN STUDIO HOURS

Studios are available during regular KAC open hours, except during scheduled classes.  All available studio hours are reflected in the Guild Studio Calendar, which is updated regularly and posted in the studios. Guild members MUST sign in and out at the front desk when using the ceramics studios, even for short visits.

CLAY

  • Clay may be purchased for $30 per 25 lb bag. We stock a variety of Cone 6 clay bodies from West Michigan Clay and Laguna.
  • It is REQUIRED that guild members purchase clay from Krasl Art Center only.

KILN USE

Guild membership includes Cone 04 and Cone 6 firing for up to two cubic feet per month. Members who regularly exceed this amount are charged an additional $50 per quarter.

Two cubic feet is estimated at 10 pounds of clay per month, or approximately five bags per year. Members purchasing more than five bags in a year are charged the additional quarterly fee.

Firing usually takes about two weeks, but may take up to one month depending on the amount of work received.
